Douglas County
Description
The Southwest most county of the metro area is
Douglas County. Only recently a largely rural area, the county
has become one of the fastest growing counties in the nation. The
towns of Parker and Castle Rock are the two primary centers of
influence for this rapidly growing area.
There has been a rapid
increase in new home subdivisions, particularly on the northern
edge bordering Arapahoe County. The county blends rural
atmosphere with proximity to the city. You will have the choice
of new communities such as Stonegate, Castle Pines North,
Clarke Farms or Strohs Ranch just to name a few. There is also the
carefully planned "new town" called Highlands Ranch, designed to accommodate a
self-contained community of some 30,000 residents. If you want
exclusivity, nothing compares to the country club mountain
atmosphere of Castle Pines Village. Want to get back to nature? The
more rural life styles with houses on two to five acre sites with horse facilities are found throughout this area.
This county is convenient
to shopping in suburban Southeast Denver and to the offices and
facilities in the I-25 corridor.
The Douglas County School
district has programs comparable to their neighboring suburban
districts. New schools to accommodate the new residents moving
into Douglas County are in various stages of planning and
development.
Douglas County offers an
alternative to the more congested life of the city.
